In pop culture and American grammar, the adjective “A-1” refers to a person place or thing that is first rate, top quality or that holds the highest possible classification. 

If Bishop Morris Golder was the prince of preachers, then I submit that in the pulpit, Bishop James A-1 Johnson was the veritable king of Christological cataphatic confession.

Like his contemporary Johnny James, Jesus was Bishop Johnson’s main subject, object, and project.   

His full name was James Archie Johnson.  In Pentecost he is known as the Honorable Bishop James A. Johnson.  A good friend and colleague of his, the late Honorable Bishop Henry Johnson of Fresno, California often publicly and affectionately applied the number “1” to Bishop Johnson’s middle initial creating the short moniker “A-1”. A cleverly appropriate designation. 

 James Archie Johnson became the Honorable Bishop James A-1 Johnson in plain sight of every member of the oldest oneness Pentecostal organization in existence, the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc.
